Spelt is easily digestible, strong and puts you in a good mood. The oldest known spelt sources in Europe date back to the Stone Age (ca. 2000 v. Chr). Spelt is not only one of the grains richest in protein, but furthermore contains many vitamins (E, B-group, folic acid, niacin) and mineral nutrients, mainly iron, magnesium and phosphor. Moreover, spelt contains six out of eight essential amino acids, which stimulate the production of hormones that put you in a happy mood. The high amount of complex carbohydrates, fatty acids and dietary fibre makes spelt an ideal food for weight-conscious people and sportspeople. If you are someone who pays attention not to cause hyperacidity in your body then you are well advised to stick with spelt: it is slightly alkaline and therefore has a neutralising effect, perfect for the important acid-base balance.
