Swiss people throw away over two million tons of perfectly good food every year – per person and per day, this equals almost a full meal. This is why Confiserie Bachmann is committed to various food-waste projects, giving bread a second chance!

«Tischlein deck dich»
For products that remain unsold after store closing, we cooperate with “Tischlein deck dich”. In 2016, Confiserie Bachmann donated 3,459 kilograms of food.
Thanks to numerous product donations, “Tischlein deck dich” was able to distribute 3,259,000 kilograms of food with a value of over CHF 21,183,500 to people affected by poverty across Switzerland last year. Every week, 15,800 people in need are supported with food.

Äss-Bar
In cooperation with Äss-Bar in Lucerne, baked goods from the previous day are sold at a significantly reduced price at the Äss-Bar shop. By contributing our baked goods, we take a stand against food waste in our region.

Teller statt Kübel
The purpose of this project is to distribute fresh daily products that supermarkets or local bakeries would otherwise throw away in the evening to people in need in Dietikon. The aim is to combat food waste while also addressing poverty.
The project relies on volunteers who collect the food from partner businesses and deliver it to the distribution center, where it is given to people in need. The food is not consumed on site but taken home.

«United Against Waste»
Bread – too valuable for the bin. The association United Against Waste is an industry initiative in the food-service sector that actively works to reduce food waste in out-of-home consumption. Each year, 265,000 tons of avoidable food waste are generated in the value chain of the Swiss out-of-home sector. These food losses cause costs and place an unnecessary burden on natural resources.
United Against Waste takes on this challenge with the goal of cutting food waste in the industry by half – for an innovative and future-oriented sector.
With its membership, Confiserie Bachmann supports the project and follows the vision: “Together, we halve food waste along the value chain of out-of-home consumption.”
