Be king for a day

Our bakery is in full swing and the delicious smell of freshly baked Three Kings Cake is in the air. Have you thought about your cake yet?

Known here as Dreikönigskuchen a ring of soft sweet-dough rolls topped with almond flakes this traditional treat for Epiphany on January 6 also appears in other countries in different forms.
In Germany, for example, the “Königskuchen” is a pound-style cake with candied fruit, sometimes wrapped in puff pastry. In Greece, the king’s cake is a loaf with a coin baked inside. The French enjoy a puff-pastry galette with almond frangipane and a hidden porcelain figurine. In Spain and Portugal, the roscón/bolo rei is a ring-shaped yeast cake decorated with candied fruit.

Our Three Kings Cake is shaped with raisins or chocolate pieces and finished with pearl sugar and almond flakes. Whether with three or thirty soft rolls these delicious cakes will make any breakfast feel royal.
