Demeter Spelt Grain from Sempach

In Switzerland, imports of frozen baked goods from abroad are increasing every year. To counter this trend in the spirit of sustainability, we are placing greater emphasis on regionality. That’s why spelt and rye are grown for us in Sempach Station. The Stalder family of the Demeterhof Stalder cultivate the grains with great passion and dedication, following the strict guidelines of the Demeter label.
What does Demeter mean?
Demeter organic farming represents a very special harmony with nature. As a trademark, Demeter stands for food produced according to the oldest and strictest form of agricultural cultivation. With closed cycles and a holistic approach to people, nature, and animals, this method creates not only highly flavorful but also particularly sustainable foods. In line with Bachmann’s philosophy: The best is so close at hand.

A new finely textured, flavorful bread specialty with a nutty note has been created from the ancient grain spelt in Demeter quality (www.demeter.ch). Our bakers in the city of Lucerne craft it by hand every day with great passion and time:
