How is a Sternschnupperli made?
During the Easter season, our production creates over 40,000 chocolate bunnies. Have you ever wondered how a Bachmann chocolate bunny is made? In this blog, we give you a look behind the scenes and show you the creation process of our Sternschnupperli.
First things first
The first step begins with folding the piping cone. With it, we “make up” the Sternschnupperli in the mould. We pour liquid milk chocolate into the piping cone and fold it closed again. Then comes the decorating.
Chocolate Make-Up
Let’s make the bunnies pretty. In the next step, we decorate the mould of the Sternschnupperli. With the filled chocolate piping cone, we paint the bunny’s eyes – once with dark chocolate, once with white chocolate.
The Chocolate Fountain
After the decorating comes the true feast for the eyes – a chocolate fountain with flowing, warm chocolate. With precise measurements, the liquid chocolate is poured into the mould. Next, both moulds, the back and the front, are joined together in the spinning machine.
A Little Spin
Once the Sternschnupperli have been combined into one piece, they are fixed onto a machine and rotated. Through the rotation, the chocolate spreads evenly across all sides with the same thickness. After 8 minutes this process is complete, and the Sternschnupperli are cooled in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.
Out of the Mould
Once cooled, the Sternschnupperli are removed from the mould. Afterwards, they are prepared for the finishing touches – decorating and packaging.
Love for the Details
It’s time for the details. The Sternschnupperli are brought from production to the decorating department. There, they are decorated with marzipan elements. Over 40,000 bunnies and 30 designs are decorated by hand.
The Bow Cannot Be Missing
Now the Sternschnupperli have already arrived in the third and final department, the packaging area. A bow is tied around, carefully packaged, and the Sternschnupperli is ready for the big wide world.
